Alber Elbaz was a Creative director, who also worked for Guy Laroche and Yves Saint Laurent brands, vigorously promoted new AZ Factory.

Mr. Elbaz long ago established himself as an industry darling whose experience included high-profile design work for Guy Laroche and Yves Saint Laurent’s Rive Gauche.

Even so, he never took his standing for granted. “Success is like a perfume,” he told The Wall Street Journal in February. “You better only smell it—never drink it.”
